Press Release: Nonprofits Establish Funds with Community Foundation

Nonprofits Establish Funds with Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan

The following nonprofit agencies have established a nonprofit Agency Endowment Fund within the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan to serve as a permanent endowment for their programs and operations:

·        Occupations, Inc.
·        Historical Society of Newburgh Bay and the Highlands
·        INSPIRE – Bill Devitt’s Dream for Inspire Fund
·        YWCA Orange County

The Community Foundation helps individuals, businesses and organizations establish permanent charitable funds that award grants and scholarships forever.  More than 120 charitable funds, created since 2000, have awarded over $6.4 million in grants in the areas of land preservation, education, health & human services, youth development, the arts and culture.  To learn more about the Community Foundation or how to establish a charitable fund, call the Community Foundation at 845-769-9393 or email Karen VanHouten Minogue at karen@cfoc-ny.org.

Starting the Conversation with Donors on Charitable Giving: A Charitable Tool Box @ Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine
Jun 9 @ 4:30 pm – 7:30 pm

This 2-credit charitable giving seminar will teach you how best to present complex structures to donors in light of their philanthropic goals, their assets, their family needs, and their tax concerns. Numerous technical rules apply to virtually every gift strategy, and failure to comply precisely can often lead to loss of the tax deduction for the gift or of tax-exemption for the structure created, because of noncompliance. An important part of charitable gift planning is meeting the complex regulatory requirements for valuation, including obtaining “qualified appraisals,” and acknowledgements of charitable contributions.

Held at the Jay Sexter Auditorium.
